Grain Mother was inspired by the Greek Goddess Demeter, the goddess of the harvest and agriculture, whose tale gives us an explanation of the harvest season. When her daughter Persephone is taken to the Underworld by Hades, Demeter becomes so distraught that she neglects her duties to watch over the crops and causes a famine. Demeter finally gets her daughter back, but only for half the year, and when Persephone goes back to the Underworld for the other half of the year, Demeter does not let plants grow.
Grain Mother is infused with sunflowers and corn silk and naturally colored with carrot juice and cocoa powder. It is naturally scented with essential oils of sweet orange, cedarwood, and cassia.
